ARTICLE 9 - TRANSPORTATION, ROOM AND
BOARD
9.01 There shall be a free zone extending to a radius of thirty-two (32)
kilometres from the Federal Buildings in Sault Ste. Marie
9.02 On projects located outside of the free zones, the Employer may
request the Union to refer any unemployed members in good standing
registered on the outofwork list, who resides within a radius of thirty-two
(32) kilometres of the project, and such a request shall not be
unreasonably denied.
9.03. When an employee is required to travel beyond the free zone noted
in Article 9.01, he shall receive a travelling allowance at the rate of fifty
– two ($0.52) cents per km on May 1, 2013, fifty- three ($0.53) cents per
km on May 1, 2014, fifty- four ($0.54) cents per km on May 1, 2015, each
way in lieu of travelling time. In the event that the employer does not
arrange suitable transportation and the employee is requested to take his
own vehicle, the employee providing the vehicle will receive an additional
forty-nine ($0.49) cents per km. on May 1, 2010, fifty ($0.50) cents per
km. on May 1, 2011, fifty-one ($0.51) cents per km. on May 1, 2012. The
number of kilometers in question will be based on the distance from the
boundary of the free zone, to the jobsite. The employee should be at the
jobsite at starting time and work his scheduled shift.
9.04 (a) Accommodations on out of town projects shall be supplied by
the Employer at the Employer’s expense and shall be clean adequate and
acceptable to the Union. The Employer further agrees to pay board
allowance of forty-nine ($49.00) dollars effective May 1, 2013, fifty
dollars ($50.00) effective May 1, 2014 and fifty-two dollars ($52.00)
effective May 1, 2015 per day worked when supplying accommodation.
When the Employer supplies such accommodation, employees shall be
required to make use of them and shall not have the option of choosing
