ARTICLE 1 - SCOPE
1.01 The Employer recognizes the Labourers’ International Union of
North America, Ontario Provincial District Council as the sole and
exclusive bargaining agency for all employees for whom the Union has
bargaining rights engaged in concrete finishing work as defined in Article
16 - Jurisdiction of this Appendix for the province of Ontario.
This Appendix shall also apply to all other Employers who are
engaged as concrete floor finishing contractors and for whose employees
the Union has bargaining rights.
ARTICLE 2 - HIRING AND UNION SECURITY
2.01 The Employer agrees to employ only members who are in good
standing with Local Unions affiliated to the Labourers' International
Union of North America, Ontario Provincial District Council, for work
coming within the scope of this Appendix.
2.02 The Employer agrees whenever possible to notify the Local Union
at least twenty-four (24) hours prior to performing work within the
geographic jurisdiction of the Local Union. The Employer agrees that
when hiring new employees covered by this Appendix, he shall call the
Local Union office at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance for his
needed supply of men; over fifty (50) kilometres, forty-eight (48) hours
advance notice.
2.03 Providing members of the Union are not available, the Employer
may obtain his needed supply of cement masons elsewhere and shall
inform the Local Union of the names of such men on the date of their
employment, and the Business Representative of the Local Union shall be
granted permission to interview them with a view of recruiting them into
Union membership. In the event that any such man does not elect to
